All patrons who wish to use the librarys computers are required to sign the following:

The undersigned acknowledges that he/she has read and understands the Gilbertville Public Library Internet Access Usage Policy.
The undersigned further acknowledges and agrees that the Gilbertville Public Library assumes no liability for any loss or damage to the users data or for any damage or injury arising from invasion of privacy in the users computer accounts, programs or files

I, the parent or legal guardian of the above-named child, give my permission for him/her to use the Internet computers at the Gilbertville Public Library without my supervision. I understand that:
•Children ages 8-12 must have written permission from a parent or guardian to use the librarys terminals without parental permission.
•The Internet is a decentralized source of information, without controls to regulate the information available. It is my and my childs responsibility to judge the reliability of information available.
•The Gilbertville Public Library bears no responsibility for the context of information or graphics acquired via the Internet.
•It is my responsibility to monitor my childs use of the Internet.

Gilbertville Public Library Internet Policy
The Internet enables the Gilbertville Public Library to expand its reference/information services by providing access to unique resources worldwide. Patrons are encouraged to use the Internet for their informational, educational and recreational needs while following these guidelines.
•Users must first read the Gilbertville Public Library Internet Use Policy and sign the Limitation of Liability form.
•Children age 12 and under must have written parental permission to use the Internet.
•Children under the age of 8 years old, must be supervised by a parent or guardian, while using the Internet.
•Users must sign in and out of the Internet Log.
•Use of the Internet is on a first come, first served basis. Those using the Internet will have a time limit of one hour, but agree as a condition of use, that if anyone else is waiting they will make the computer available within five minutes of being informed by the library staff that another person is waiting.
•Patrons will use the Internet in a responsible and ethical manner.
•Users will not attempt to modify, alter, or damage software and equipment.
•Users will not receive or display text/graphics, which may reasonably be considered obscene.
•Internet access is a privilege, not a right, which may be revoked at any time for inappropriate conduct.
•Users may not use their own software programs on the Internet.
•Parents or legal guardians, not the library or its staff, are responsible for the information selected and/or accessed by children.
Patrons may not:
•Download files to drives other than the A: drive.
•Make any attempt to damage computer equipment or software.
•Make any attempt to alter computer configurations or settings.
